The 2026 edition
Fresh Edit invited emerging curators to build a curatorial selection from the ArtGraduates collection of 100+ contemporary visual artists, accompanied by an original text exploring the connections between the chosen works. Registration closed on 1 August 2026, completed projects were submitted by 15 August, and the results were announced on 30 August 2026.
Five projects were selected from an international field. Each is published as a full article in ArtGraduates Magazine (ISSN 3029-9292), one per week, translated into all 17 languages of the platform. The first-placed project also receives a $300 USD prize.

The five projects are published in ArtGraduates Magazine one per week. A link is added here as each article appears.
Assessment
Submissions were read by the editorial team together with two external assessors: Lenka Lee of the Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University, and Jiří Riessler, independent curator and writer.
Thank you to everyone who entered. The standard made the final order genuinely difficult to settle.
What the call asked for
- A selection of at least 5 artworks by at least 3 different artists, referenced by image ID from the curator preview page
- A curatorial essay of 500-2000 words presenting the selection, its theme, and the art-historical or conceptual connections between the chosen works
- Optionally, a proposed exhibition concept describing how the works could be presented together
The call was open to emerging curators, art history students, recent graduates, and anyone with a genuine interest in curatorial practice aged 18-35 at the time of registration. There was no nationality restriction and no entry fee, and submissions were accepted in any language.
What the selected curators receive
- Publication of the curatorial project as a full article in ArtGraduates Magazine, translated into 17 languages
- A curator profile with bio, photo, and links to the curator's website and social media
- A professional curatorial reference for CV and portfolio
- $300 USD for the first-placed project, in addition to publication
Terms of the 2026 edition
- Artworks had to be selected exclusively from works available on ArtGraduates.com at the time of registration.
- Curatorial texts had to be the entrant's own original writing. AI-generated texts were disqualified.
- Curators retain full authorship of their projects. By submitting, they granted ArtGraduates a non-exclusive right to publish. All featured artists are credited with links to their profiles.
- Entrants' email addresses are not shared with third parties or used for marketing.
- For transparent evaluation, the founder's profile was excluded from the collection available for curatorial projects, as the founder is also a practicing artist.
- Each registered participant could submit a maximum of 3 projects.
No open call is running at the moment
There is no Fresh Edit call open for entries right now. Curators, critics and art historians are welcome to pitch their own writing to ArtGraduates Magazine at any time. Every proposal is read, and accepted texts are published on the same terms as the Fresh Edit projects: a full article translated into all 17 languages, with an author profile and a link back to your own site. Send a short outline to [email protected]. Visual artists who meet the platform's criteria can submit a profile at any time, free of charge.
