Vojtěch Luksch
Vojtěch Luksch (*1992) graduated from the Painting Studio at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Brno University of Technology (FaVU). Already during his studies, he began systematically exploring the visual motifs of video games, seeking ways to translate digital aesthetics into the physical medium of painting. He paints on canvas and plywood, but sometimes also transfers digital visuality onto embroidered grounds, thus connecting the world of video games with craft tradition. He focuses on games from the late nineties and early 2000s – not only because of his personal connection to them, but also because their imperfect graphics align with his aesthetic and painterly intentions.
Luksch works with the iconography of digital environments and with “lost artifacts” – symbols and visual elements that once defined the visual identity of early games. His paintings feature icons, map fragments, wood textures, and other motifs transferred from virtual space back into the material reality of the painting.
