Dagmar Šubrtová
In her work, Dagmar Šubrtová has long engaged with the post-industrial landscape, exploring processes of transformation and the impact of human activity on the global Earth system. She observes the workings of nature while remaining acutely aware of the Earth's fragility in the universe and the constant threats it faces. She creates concentrated images of cyclical cosmic events, juxtaposing them with objects whose raw material structures host partially controlled processes of liquid matter. Through the interplay of chemical reactions between pigment compositions and gathered materials, the artist generates dynamic structures that mirror chemical processes found in nature. The intricate formations within the material evoke a wealth of associations — recalling satellite imagery of the Earth's surface or the barren landscapes of other planets, while simultaneously, by contrast, suggesting the structures of minerals seen under a microscope.
