Sebastian Karvay

Sebastian Karvay (*2002, Vrchlabí)
He is a visual artist working primarily in the medium of drawing, though he also devotes himself to painting and illustration.
He graduated from Painting Studio 3 at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Brno and also passed through the Environment Studio and the Drawing Studio at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague.
He understands his artistic practice as a personal response to the diminished awareness of the sacred in the contemporary world. And in his work he is concerned with conveying an experience that is at once deeply personal and universal, most often through everyday motifs developed towards abstraction.
The individual materials he uses and the physical presence of the work in space are also an important element of these pieces. His working process is concentrated, even meditative, and in a present-day context could be described as slow. Karvay offers space for recollection and for reconsidering the human relationship to the natural processes of regeneration of the inner and the outer world, which need not be clearly separated from one another.
