Puri Díaz
I am a visual artist. I work with photography as pre-existing material: the archive I inherited from my father, the family album, vernacular imagery and the visual leftovers of the street. I assemble, layer and rewrite them at exactly the point where a photograph stops serving as evidence and starts constructing fiction, and from there I examine how the image manufactures memory and identity. I have had solo exhibitions at the Sala Rosalía de Castro and the Atelier de Fotografía, have taken part in group shows in Spain, Portugal and London, and have been an artist in residence at EAN13 and RuralArt. I founded the photobook publisher Demente Ediciones.
