Petra Pohlová
Petra Pohlová (aka Pola Puk-Puk) is a graphic designer and illustrator, one of two members of Puk-Puk studio. She graduated from the Environment studio at FaVU (Faculty of Fine Arts, Brno University of Technology). Wandering through the forests and meadows of southern Moravia led the artist to an interest in plants and their morphology. She paints series of watercolors on botanical themes: the world of mushrooms or ordinary meadow plants. Watercolor painting is her way of studying plants. She is a grower and admirer of cacti. Her fascination with cacti gave rise to a cycle of illustrations dedicated to cacti, visually inspired by 18th-century botanical herbaria. She enjoys working with materials such as textiles, lace, and colored papers. Using the technique of cutting and gluing textiles, she creates illustrations featuring quirky characters from Uherské Hradiště who have their own distinctive lifestyle, folk costume, and swag. She enjoys handwork with textiles and scissors, finding stylization within a given material. She occasionally ventures into fashion, for example with a casual clothing line dedicated to succulents, Sukulento fashion.
