Peter Brandstätter
Peter Brandstätter (b. 1974) is a Graz-based photographer from Austria whose work centers on analogue travel photography. Since his early journeys with a cherished Rolleiflex T model from around 1960, he has been capturing the subtle charm of cities — especially those with echoes of former imperial heritage, such as Prague, Trieste and Budapest — in classic black-and-white film.
He develops his Kodak Tri-X 400 films using Caffenol, a home-made environmentally friendly developer. Each negative is carefully scanned and adjusted to honor the unique character of the analogue medium. His themes center on transformation and impermanence — the interplay of old and new, decay and renewal.
