Hatice Atamış
Hatice Atamış (b. 2001) is a visual artist living and working in Gaziantep. In 2022 she graduated from the Painting programme of the Department of Fine Arts Education at Hatay Mustafa Kemal University.
Her artistic practice centres on social memory, social ruptures, displacement, labour, protection and human fragility. Through painting, mixed media, found objects and installation, she transforms everyday materials into artistic statements that carry social and historical meaning.
In her work she investigates the traces that wars, natural disasters and experiences of displacement leave on individuals, communities and places. She approaches art not merely as a space for expressing personal feelings or aesthetic concerns, but as a way of questioning social realities and making collective memory visible.
In her interdisciplinary work, which she develops out of the relationship between painting, object and space, she brings together material, memory and human experience.
