Elisabeth-Marie

I was born in 2000 in Brno, where I studied fashion design at the Secondary School of Art and Design (SŠUD). I completed my bachelor’s degree in the painting studio at the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art, University of West Bohemia in Pilsen (FDULS) under the guidance of MgA Vladimír Vély, and I am currently in the first year of my master’s programme at the same institution.
Art-making is one of my fundamental needs and I have been devoted to it since childhood, whether in painting, textiles, or photography. Painting, however, has long been closest to me, and the themes I explore have shifted considerably, especially during my university studies. I engage with painting from observation, which I like to push into more abstract territory, as well as entirely imaginative scenes often inspired by mythology or my inner world. Among the specific subjects that appear in my work are the figure, the portrait, abstracted interior views, and decidedly fantastical motifs with references to folk culture, myths, and rituals. Regardless of the subject, all my works are characterised by delicacy and an emphasis on colour composition.
