Alice Waisserová
Alice Waisserová (b. 1974), a graduate of the Faculty of Fine Arts in Brno (1995–2001, the Intermedia Studio led by prof. Peter Rónai and prof. Petr Kvíčala), has long been exploring the subtle relationships between colour form, shape and space, with an emphasis on visual and compositional atmosphere. In her paintings she brings realistic fragments together with abstract gestures. In this way she creates a space where personal experience is interwoven with an exploration of universal and spiritual themes.
In her work she seeks to capture the hidden energy of places and looks for relationships between the shapes of plants, in which the geometry of the universe is mirrored. Her gaze does not rest on the objects themselves but reaches into the space between them. She breaks the invisible force of the moment down into patches of colour, from which she then assembles a new composition. The result is a visual landscape in which pure atmosphere above all is allowed to come to the fore.
