Jitka Mikolášková
Jitka graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague where she studied painting, and currently directs her work towards visually mainfesting concepts. Her body of work mainly includes landscape paintings which highlight atmosphere, featuring figurative scenes as active participants in the action in contrast to the surrounding passive environment. A significant feature of her landscapes is the emphasis on the atmosphere and mystery of the place. She is interested in the duality of light and darkness, interpreting it as a spiritual image of the landscape and a paradoxical union of fear and hope.
Currently, she spends her time capturing places that will disappear irretrievably in the foreseeable future or are changing dramatically, as a preservation of memory, including their genius loci.
